4-Day Comprehensive Documentary Filmmaking Workshop

June 17th to 20th, 2008

What is it?

FilmTreks, in partnership with the SouthSide Film Institute, returns to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for our annual SouthSide Film Festival Documentary Filmmaking Workshop. Classes are taught at Lehigh University's Wilbur Powerhouse, a state of the art computer lab with participants also working in the field to document subjects within the city of Bethlehem. Students will finish their projects just as the Festival kicks-off, premiering their newly minted documentaries within the SouthSide Film Festival itself.

What will you do?

This workshop explores the full gamut of the documentary filmmaking process from story development to camerawork, audio recording methods, interview techniques, and digital editing. Participants work in teams of two to produce actual documentaries with real subjects; learning hands-on in an immersive environment.

The goal of this workshop is to provide you with an authentic understanding of the process and skills involved in producing documentary films that you can then carry forward into your own projects. View films from past participants to see what is possible.

Workshop tuition

$700.00  /  45+ hours of hands-on instruction

This workshop is limited to 10 participants, affording hands-on instruction with a student-teacher ratio of 5 to 1 or less.

Contact us by email or phone at (801) 712-6116 to find out more about this workshop.

Workshop registration is being handled directly by the SouthSide Film Institute. If you'd like to secure your spot, you can register now by visiting the SouthSide Film Institute's workshop web page.
